How to set up mIRC

This example uses: mIRC 5.11, Netscape 4.03 and Windows 95

Setup under Windows NT 4.0 is exactly the same.
Setup under Windows 3.1 is different, but the configuration of the mIRC program is similar.

Part 5: Setting up Netscape to use chat room links
Go to NewEarth's home page at http://www.newearth.org/and click on the Live Chat link there. Or use this copy:
In this dialog box, you tell Netscape what application to call to handle this new file type.

Hit "Pick App".

The "Configure External Viewer" window appears.

Hit "Browse".

The "Select an Appropriate Viewer" window appears. Use the drop-down menu to navigate to the folder where you installed mIRC. The default location is C:\MIRC.
Select "MLINK.EXE".

Hit "Open".

If the "Configure External Viewer" window looks like this, hit "OK".
Now you need to tell MIRCLINK.EXE where to find the mIRC program, and its configuration file.

Hit the first "Browse" button.

Click on "MIRC32.EXE" and then click "OK".
Click the second "Browse" button in the mIRCLink32 window. This time, select MIRC.INI and click "OK".
If the mIRCLink32 window looks like this, click "OK".

Now Netscape will call the mIRC program whenever you click on a chat room link.
