How to set up mIRC

This example uses: mIRC 5.11, Netscape 4.03 and Windows 95

Setup under Windows NT 4.0 is exactly the same.
Setup under Windows 3.1 is different, but the configuration of the mIRC program is similar.

Part 2: Installing the mIRC software on your computer
If you can't remember the location where you saved the mIRC file, use Windows 95's file finder.
This 32-bit version 5.11 is called mirc511t.exe. If you don't remember which version you got, search for mirc*.exe instead.
You may need to change the name of the drive you are searching. In my case, it is drive I:. Most people will be using drive C:.

The file you have found is a is a program that runs on your computer and installs the mIRC software. When you find the file, you can just double-click it to start the installation process.

Here's what you will see when you start up the mIRC installer. In this example, we will be installing mIRC in C:\mirc, which is the default location. You can change this if you want, by clicking the BROWSE button here.

Leave the two check boxes checked.

Then click the INSTALL button.

Watch it install itself!
After the installation finishes, you'll see a new window on your desktop, like this one. The next step is to start the mIRC program by double-clicking the mIRC32 icon.

Part 3: Running mIRC for the first time and configuring it
