How to set up mIRC

This example uses: mIRC 5.11, Netscape 4.03 and Windows 95

Setup under Windows NT 4.0 is exactly the same.
Setup under Windows 3.1 is different, but the configuration of the mIRC program is similar.

Part 1: Getting the mIRC software
Go to our home page at http://www.newearth.org and find a tile that says "Live Chat." You can also find this link on most of our main pages, or you can just use this one:

To get to the mIRC pages, click on the mIRC Now! icon in the NewEarth IRC page, or use this one:

mIRC Now!
Here's the mIRC Download page. You will need to select the right version of mIRC for your computer's operating system. In this example, we are getting the 32-bit version, for Windows 95 or Windows NT.

If you are using Windows 3.1, or if you are using a 16-bit Winsock application, such as Trumpet Winsock, you need a 16-bit version of mIRC.

Select a download site near your location.

When the download site responds and starts sending the file, you will get a dialog box like this one. This selects the location where the file will be saved on your computer.

If the file location is OK with you, remember it and click the SAVE button.

While the file is being transmitted, you will see a box like this one. If it seems to be stuck, you can cancel and re-try a different download location.

When the download is complete, this box goes away.
