• If you have your own IRC client set up, point it to our server, "irc.newearth.org" and join channel #newearth .
  
  
• If you don't have your own IRC client, you can use one at NewEarth. Your browser must have a telnet application to use these links. This service is available only for use on NewEarth's IRC server. To use other servers, get your own client.

• If your ISP gives you access to a Unix shell, you can usually run an irc client by typing the command 'irc'. Normally, you would follow this with your nickname and the name of the server, for example: 'irc pat irc.newearth.org' would connect you to the IRC server here and give you the nickname 'pat'. Once connected, you can type '/join #newearth' to join the main chat channel.

The ntalk protocol creates a live text chat session between two individual users connected anywhere on the Internet.

• Open Talks (Windows 95)
• WinTalk (Windows 95/3.1)
• Talk/Talkd (Macintosh)
• Unix shell users can usually type 'ntalk [user@host]' or 'talk [user@host]' to start a talk session.
